Our 2015/2016 season so far has been truly outstanding! The El Nino weather pattern we are currently experiencing, is providing hot and dry conditions and encouraging our vines to produce what’s looking to be a bumper crop of clean, high quality fruit. If only we could clone our vineyard workers to keep up with all the new growth!
We are currently seeing fruit-set in the vineyard, with flowering happening over the Christmas period. At the beginning of December the vines looked to be running a few weeks ahead of schedule, but the colder weather that we experiences prior to Christmas has slowed them down a little.
From here on out it is a matter of keeping up with growth; lifting wires to hold the canopy upright, leaf plucking around the fruiting zone to let both light and airflow in, and mending nets in time to get them in place to protect our precious fruit from bird damage.
